WILLIAM WACHNA After a long and full life, William Wachna passed away at home on November 26, 2015, at the age of 91. He was born at Stuartburn, Manitoba. He moved to Ridgeville in 1950, where he purchased Ridgeville Transfer which he operated for 40 years. Later, in retirement, he enjoyed selling metal and culverts. He also enjoyed singing, swimming, and farming with his family. William and Iris moved to Winnipeg in 2012 and adjusted to city life quite comfortably. Left to mourn are his devoted, caring wife of 60 years, Iris; his four children of whom he was especially proud: Elaine (Ed) Segstro, Marcia Wachna, Kathleen (Gary) Caithness, and Ted Wachna; his five grandchildren: Matthew and Jeremy Segstro, Rease, Nathan, and Paisley Wachna; his brother-in-law, Frank Cardamone; and numerous nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his parents, Metro and Anna Wachna, eight brothers and sisters due to diphtheria (1918-24), then sisters Pearl (Pete) Smuk, Effie (Steve) Paley, Teenie (Andrew) Chleborob, and Florence (Frank) Cardamone. The family would like to thank the emergency medical team who attended, and the police officers who sat with us for several hours. The service will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 West, Steinbach, Manitoba, with viewing one hour prior to the service.
