Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Verna was a wonderful lady and always very kind to my family and me. I really enjoyed our many phone calls and I will miss her. My deepest sympathy to her family. - Posted by: Ruby McGuckin (Long time friend of over 50 years) on: Jan 22, 2016

  • My aunt Verna was a very important person in my life. She looked after me from age 2 to 5 when my parents were working , as we were living in the upstairs apt on Canora St in Wpg. She imbued me with a wonderful love of music which I appreciate to this day as I am now a music teacher. Her son Scott and I both share a love of jazz which I am sure is part of her legacy. Verna could instantly tell what kind of samba etc was playing. Her love of life, sense of style and general panache were always appreciated by me. I hope all who loved her will carry this legacy forward! My deepest condolences to all her family. Laney Hunt Vancouver - Posted by: Laney Hunt (Niece) on: Dec 13, 2015

  • My sympathies to the family on the loss of your Mother. My connection with Verna goes back some years. First, my Mother was friends with Verna's Mother at Horndean. Then I met Verna's Mother at the former Teacher's College in Tuxedo. I had not remembered meeting Verna but had mostly heard about her through my Mother. I was so pleased to finally meet her when her family moved close to Sansome. I taught Jay and soon we made the connection! She will be missed. - Posted by: Diedrich Toews (Friend) on: Dec 09, 2015

  • Our condolence to Verna’s many friends especially those who sent cards, flowers and visited her since being hospitalized in April. I am so glad that I was able to visit her all summer; my final visit at Thanksgiving leaves me with happy memories of a very dear friend. Verna was a vibrant classy lady, always ready to party, play cards, go for coffee, organize pot lucks and have fun. Remembering her wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in peace! The Qually’s Mesa, Arizona - Posted by: The Quallys (Friends for over 40 years) on: Dec 09, 2015
