Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORANCE EMMA THORNTON (nee BOEHLER) On December 7, 2015, one month and four days before her 75th birthday, Florance slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus and into eternity. Florance was born in Emerson, MB, and was the eldest of seven children. Artistic and talented, Florance appreciated the beauty of nature and loved flower gardens. At the age of 21, she married Robert (Bob) Thornton, and moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario. After the birth of her two daughters, she and Bob relocated to Winnipeg, where they lived until 1989. Florance and Bob then spent 10 years in Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut, where they managed a Northern Co-op store and hotel. She returned to Winnipeg in 1999 and resided here until her passing. She was predeceased by her parents, Agatha and Henry Boehler, and Robert Thornton. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Karen Thornton (Toronto) and Sheila Thornton (Vancouver); son-in-law Marcelo Mota and grandson Dante Thornton Mota (Vancouver); siblings Gladys Boehler, Sylvia Rondeau, Ray (Sylvia) Boehler, Val Kitson, Sharon (Ron) Gerrick, and Brian (Angie) Boehler. We would like to thank the staff at River East Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they gave to Florance while she was there. Her smile, laughter, and her kind and giving heart will live on in the memories of all who knew her. A celebration of Florance's life will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West Saint Paul, Manitoba on Thursday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. I was so sorry to read of Florance's passing, and the realization that she must not have been well. Cliff and I both send our sincere sympathy. I very often think fondly of our year together on McMillan Ave. I would love to hear from you. Hoping all is well with your family. Sincerely, Marleen. - Posted by: Marleen Tomasson (Long ago friend and roomate) on: Dec 10, 2015
