Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MEYER October 10, 1923 December 7, 2015 On the morning of Monday, December 7, 2015, Anna Meyer passed away at the age of 92 years old. She was a resident of Westpark Manor Personal Care home since February 2015. Her prior residence was at Concordia Village Assisted Living also including several years as a tenant at Fort Garry Place. She often shared her cherished memories of her dearly loved home in West Kildonan where she lived for over 40 years. Everyone's Anna will be terribly missed as she was indeed a charming strong willed lady with a captivating smile. She received wonderful compassionate care until the end of her blessed long life. She was predeceased by her brother George, her parents, her beloved husband Wilhelm (Willy) Meyer after 37 years of marriage and brother-in-law Leslie Mutter. Anna is survived by her beloved devoted sister Tamara Mutter. She is also remembered by her niece, Laura Calder and husband Bob including three grandnephews. Shawn Calder and wife Janelle Beaudette, Geoffrey Calder and Grant Calder. Her nephew Bernie Mutter and wife Kathy Bardswick from Burlington, Ontario with four additional grandnephews. Eric Mutter and Annie, Ryan, Graham and Justin Mutter. Anna was born October 10, 1923. During her early years she lived in the eastern block of Europe with her family. Her father's career working in management with a railroad firm brought her to live in Kiev, Russia. Anna continued her education with a strong academic background having the opportunity to work as an assistant chemist and bookkeeper. Anna was surrounded by many family and friends whom she loved when living in Europe. Her parents returned to Germany where Anna continued to work and met the love of her life. In 1948 she with her family immigrated to Canada settling in Winnipeg with new opportunity and hope. Her late husband Willy Meyer joined her later in Winnipeg and they were married in June 1951. Anna was employed with Western Glove Works as Supervisor on the garment floor until her retirement in 1988. Her hobbies and interests were widespread with the purpose of sharing her love and positive outlook of life. In her years that followed she belonged to a number of organizations making her family proud of her achievements. Anna was a long term member whom was well respected with the Winnipeg German Society on Charles Street until her passing. She volunteered for many years serving countless hours on the Ladies Auxiliary. Her continued involvement with Folklorama where she fulfilled her role being accountable for the bake tables. A talented baker Anna's speciality was her Tortes, which were always in high demand including her cheesecakes. Anna loved her golf playing many summers at the Kildonan Golf Course, Ladies League. She also belonged to Billy Mosienko Lanes and truly enjoyed her bowling league over many winter seasons. Her love of travel brought her to different parts of the world making Cuba her favourite winter destination. Her faithful support to the Russian Orthodox Church and community is missed. Anna continued her love and obsession of wild mushroom picking knowing the different varieties making them into edible delicacies. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Ken Boitson and Donna for their continued support and friendship to Anna in the last few years. We also express our gratitude to Westpark Manor for the continued care they provided. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, Manitoba, R4A 2A8.
