Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ELLEN PARKINSON Peacefully, on the evening of December 8, 2015, Margaret Parkinson passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital, in Winnipeg at the age of 87. Born in Regina on November 3, 1928 to Arthur and Mabel Jordan, she grew up in a loving and happy home with her brother Stuart whom she absolutely adored. In her youth she had a passion for all kinds of dance and took lessons for many years. She had many fond memories of summer outings at Regina Beach with family and friends. After completing high school she was employed with Sears, and it was at a dance in Regina that she met the love of her life, Alfred (Alf) Parkinson. They were married on June 4, 1955, and as a result of Alf being a bank manager for CIBC, they were transferred to different branches before finally settling in Winnipeg for the last thirty-eight years. Along the way she created lifelong friendships with people from the Fisher Branch, Winkler, and Stonewall communities. Theirs was an active social life! Marg was content and fulfilled in her role as family homemaker and unconditionally loved her three children. She had a very close relationship with them and no topic was off limits. As a family they took many camping trips throughout Canada and the U.S. and have wonderful memories of them. She adored and loved her ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter and took great interest in their lives. She was a devoted daughter to her mother, and cared for her in her home for the last ten years of her mother's life. Marg enjoyed gardening, sewing, and knitting sweaters for her grandchildren. She loved nature and the outdoors and with Alf she enjoyed many boating and fishing excursions. Oak Hammock marsh was a special place for her. It was only recently, on October 1, that they sold their house in Winnipeg and moved into Lions Manor in Stonewall. Leaving to mourn her passing is her beloved husband of 60 years, Alfred; her son Brian Parkinson (Barb) and grandchildren Kayla and Micah; her daughter Sandra Nitzsche (Bill) and grandchildren Spencer, Mallory, Erin (Brandon and great-granddaughter Heidi), and Kirsten; her daughter Shelley Matheson (George) and grandchildren Graeme (Kylie), Madeline, Austin, and Hannah; as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother. A memorial service for family members is planned for late December. MacKenzie Funeral Home 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com
