RONALD ALLEN ERHARDT It is with sadness that we announce the death of Ronald Allen Erhardt, our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ron was born November 2, 1932 in Winnipeg, MB. He died peacefully in his home in Winnipeg on December 13, 2015. Ron spent most of his life working as a correctional officer at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. In his leisure time, he enjoyed many nature related activities such as berry picking, fishing, boating and camping. We spent many happy days with him during these excursions. He was very knowledgeable about native plants, animals and birds of Manitoba. He enjoyed going south for the winter and when at home for the summer, he spent many hours at the Assiniboia Downs race track where we would join him on occasion. He had a huge heart for animals and rescued many from the Humane Society. In the past several years our Dad dealt with emotional and physical problems and it was painful to see him suffer under these conditions. We are grateful to know that he is now free of the illnesses that plagued him. He is survived by his brother, Gilbert Erhardt and family; sister Joyce Parlin and family; children, Peggy Loewen and family; Wendy Kroeker and family and Jeffrey Erhardt and family. He was blessed with five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles and friends. In place of a funeral, family and friends are invited to join us for a time of remembrance in honour of Ron Erhardt in the private home of David and Peggy Loewen, Saturday, January 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 29 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg.
