LUTHER MARTIN HEBER
Date of Passing: Dec 15, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUTHER MARTIN HEBER It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Luther Martin Heber on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 76 years. Remaining to mourn Luther are his sons, Jim (Ted) and Rob (Lesley); daughter Kathy (Dale) Carter; his beloved granddaughters, Tatiana, Annika, Linnea and Samantha; sister Alexandra (Richard); brother Wesley (Lou); as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Hildegard; his brother Walter; and his sister Marie (Case) Komada. Dad loved to tell stories about his childhood on the farm in northern Saskatchewan and growing up in Point Douglas. The year 1950 seemed to be the most memorable year for Dad. The flood nearly destroyed his family's home; he spent the summer staying with relatives and he learned to ride a bike. When we were kids, every story started with "when I was 11" The greatest joy Dad found in life were his granddaughters. He loved them and played with them. He taught them and listened to everything they had to say. Dad watched movies, read stories, played games, attended tea parties, set up tents, kicked soccer balls and had picnics in the living room. He attended baseball games, Christmas concerts, dance recitals, soccer games and award ceremonies. Grandpa never wanted to miss a single moment. He was grateful for how his sweethearts' changed his perspective on life and made him a better man. Dad had a keen intellect and strength of character that taught us about the type of people we would like to be. His love for family was undeniable. He was our father, our mentor and our friend. Through his illness, Dad showed us a greater strength than we ever knew he had. In the end, his body could take no more and it was time to give up the fight. The memories of love and laughter are his greatest legacy. In compliance with Dad's wishes, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3Y 1G4 or Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 1M3.
