HENRY JOHN PENNER After a long and rich life, Henry John Penner passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the age of 89. Left to mourn is his devoted wife of 66 years, Barbara Penner; his loving children, son Douglas (Charlotte) and daughter Carol Hoydalo (Richard). Henry also leaves his three grandchildren, Lisa Penner (Bruce McCann) & Craig Penner & Kylie Hoydalo and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Danika & Connor McCann. Henry was born in Russia and immigrated to Canada at six months of age. He grew up and attended school in the Steinbach area. After completing grade twelve, Henry moved to Winnipeg and began a long career driving taxis and buses. Henry was employed by Winnipeg Transit for 31 years. Henry and Barb enjoyed 28 years of retirement. During those years, they travelled across North America by bus and around the world on many cruises with CAA. They particularly enjoyed travelling with their granddaughter, Kylie to Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and South America. Henry's favourite place in the world though was his garden. He grew delicious vegetables/fruits and enjoyed just sitting in the backyard with a cold one enjoying nature. A private celebration was held at Chapel Lawn. Interment will be held at a later date.
