WILBERT WILMER WAGNER 1931 - 2015 Peacefully, on December 15, 2015, at the age of 84, Wilbert joined his beloved wife Ruth (nee Betker) in eternal rest. Also predeceased by his parents Conrad and Emily, brothers Archie and Gordon, and granddaughter Christina. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Donald (Edda), James (Trudy), Thomas (Judy), Grant (Ron), grandchildren Michael (Shelby), Melissa (Mike), Christopher, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dad was born June 8, 1931 in Winnipeg and raised in the North End. A gifted athlete he excelled in track and soccer. While attending Isaac Newton High School, Dad sang lead tenor in his high school musical productions. Married in 1956, Dad and Mom moved to Westwood in 1961. A skilled commercial artist, Dad worked in outdoor advertising for 46 years until retirement at 65 as a Creative Director at Mediacom. Dad was a self-taught master craftsman who took pride in everything he made. He could carve, draw, paint, build, or fix anything. A self-described perfectionist, Dad always did his best and was annoyed at mediocrity. "If something is worth doing - it's worth doing well." Dad had a sociable approach in all situations and with all people. He loved to laugh, tell jokes and share stories. Dad will forever be remembered for his unwavering devotion to our family. Special thanks to the entire staff of Sturgeon Creek 2 Retirement Residence for their boundless love, care and support. A memorial service to celebrate Dad's life will take place Monday, December 21, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
