LINDA ANN PINKERTON With great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Linda Ann Pinkerton (nee Foster), aged 71 of Carman. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 40 years Robert (Bob) Pinkerton and their two daughters, Lisa Pinkerton-Baschuk (Derek) and Julie Truong (Thy), grandchildren Nora, Daxton, and Tyler, as well as numerous relatives, close friends, and neighbours. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Doreen Foster, her sister Sandra Kruse, and her father-in-law Ken Pinkerton. Linda was raised in Winnipeg where she was employed as a paralegal at Buchwald, Asper, Henteleff for many years. Linda was an active member of Bethel #2 of The International Order of Job's Daughters (IOJD) and was a Past Grand Guardian for Manitoba. She made many life-long friends during this time and often talked fondly about her time with the organization. In October 1976, she married Bob and they began their life together on the family farm in Roland where they raised their family. Linda made the transition from city life to country life look easy although after a couple of nerve-wracking lessons it was decided that she would not be driving any of the farm machinery! In the early 1990s she began working for Hoeschen and Stewart (later Hoeschen and Sloane) Law Offices in Morden, where she handled hundreds of real estate transactions in the area. She was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother, who always went above and beyond, whether that involved baking special cupcakes for class parties, planning a bridal or baby shower, hosting someone for dinner, or being one of the first to comfort a friend during a time of loss. She spoiled her grandchildren, and celebrated every holiday or special occasion with them. Linda was especially proud to welcome Julie and Thy's first child, Tyler, only 2 weeks ago. She made birthdays and Christmas magical, which makes the timing of her death all the more difficult for her family. Linda was known for her phenomenal planning and organizational skills. She was an active community member and strongly believed in the value of volunteering. She taught Sunday School at Myrtle United Church for many years, as well as serving in various other positions within the church. She was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Myrtle-Roland Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, organized numerous community events including the pancake breakfast at the local fair, and was always willing to help out with community projects. She always said that she was willing to volunteer with an organization as long as it didn't involve wearing a uniform! In recent years Linda faced several health challenges, including osteoarthritis, which greatly limited her mobility and prevented her from being as active in her family's life and in the community as she would have liked to have been. Nevertheless, she continued to make every effort to attend events, particularly if they involved her grandchildren. Linda valued her friends and considered them family. She will be remembered as someone who was always there for others when they needed someone to talk to or a hand to hold. The funeral service will be held at Roland United Church, Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the Roland Memorial Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Arthritis Society, The Carman Area Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
