ARTHUR (ART) ARNOLD HIEBERT July 27, 1939 December 17, 2015 Art Hiebert passed away on December 17, 2015 at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB after a brief illness at the age of 76. He was born July 27, 1939 in Swift Current, SK and graduated from the Swift Current Collegiate in 1957. In 1958 he married Ruby Doyle. They had two children, Shannon in 1964 and Maureen in 1968. A self-made man, Art spent nearly his entire working life in the public healthcare systems in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He began his career as the bookkeeper for the Southwest Saskatchewan Regional Hospital Council. He subsequently held administrative positions at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, the Dauphin General Hospital, rising to become the Assistant Director of the Misericordia General Hospital in Winnipeg and later Executive Director of the Manitoba Nursing Homes Association. Art was also a member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives. Music was an important part of Art's life. He loved to sing and was a member of the Dauphin chapter of the Barbershoppers and the Main Street Music Men Quartet. Always a consummate putterer, he spent many happy hours lovingly tending his yard. Art is survived by his wife of the 57 years Ruby, his daughters Shannon and her son Max of Edmonton, and Maureen (Josh Goldstein) and their children Ari Durden and Abby of Calgary, and his brother Henry (Betty) of Swift Current. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Hiebert, his brothers Jake, John, Pete, Abe, and Norm and his sisters Tina and Mary. At Art's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Victoria General Hospital. The family wishes to sincerely thank the first responders, emergency room staff, and the doctors, nurses, and attendants on the 4th floor of the Vic for their compassionate and professional care.
