KATHLEEN SCHLEDEWITZ Peacefully, in the early hours of Christmas Eve, with her sons and grandson at her side, Kathleen Schledewitz passed into her eternal rest at the age of 102 years, 2 1/2 months after a very brief decline. Predeceased by her husband Peter (she was a widow for over 30 years), her parents William and Maria Atamanchuk, and all her siblings, she lived a full and productive life right to the end. She is survived by her son, Ivor and Lorna, grandson, Lawrence and LoriAnn, great-grandson, Gavin, all of Winnipeg, grand-daughter, Penelope and David Campbell, Stratford, Ontario, grandson, Jonathan of Calgary. Her son, David and Sandra of Winnipeg, granddaughter, Kristi and Father Andrew Jarmus, great-grandsons; Aidan, Isaiah and Jonah of Fort Wayne, Indiana, grand-daughter, Kerry and Sam Chu, great-granddaughter, Sarah of Seattle, Washington. Her daughter, JoAnne and Mark Haxby of Vernon, British Columbia, granddaughter, Brangwen and Josh Mooney of Edmonton, grandson, Anthony Haxby of Edmonton and her nephew, Albert and Charlene Atamanchuk of Winnipeg. Her final year and a half were spent in loving care at Holy Family Personal Care Home. Words cannot express our thanks for the wonderful nurses and aides on the St. Paul's wing who went above and beyond the call of duty in their care of our mom, making her feel that this was "home". They truly loved her, and were compassionate in their concern, also for us, especially during her last two weeks on "comfort care". Special thanks to Father Frank and Sister Charlene for administering the Last Rites and to Pastor Bruce for bringing comfort through word and prayer. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery, on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Interment at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 12 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue.
