JOSEPH MAYBRODA It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Maybroda, at St. Boniface Hospital, on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the age of 92. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Mary Anne Yusishen and her husband Larry; his son-in-law Burle Silverman; two granddaughters Sheree and Amanda Yusishen; his sister Bina Boleschuk; and his greatest joy, his great-grandson Hunter. He was predeceased by wife Minnie (2000); his youngest daughter Vivian (December 10, 2015); his parents Samuel and Frances; his brothers Paul and Peter; and his niece Eleanor. Joseph was born on April 25, 1923 in Thalberg, Manitoba. He married Minnie on June 26, 1948 in Winnipeg and they had 51 years together before her passing. They moved to Winnipeg and raised two beautiful daughters in their home on Marsden Street. Joseph was quite the handyman as well. If it was broken, he would fix it. No project was too big or too small for him to take on. Joseph held many different jobs through the years, finishing his career when he retired from Winnipeg School Division No. 1 on June 22, 1989. His retirement years were spent travelling with his wife Minnie throughout Canada and the United States, including trips to Cuba and Hawaii. He also enjoyed going to meet "his guys" for coffee. In 2008, Joseph moved to Concordia Villa. Here he spent many evenings playing cards and developing friendships with the other residents. Joseph was a member of the Holy Eucharist Parish for over 50 years, including fulfilling the role of president of the Holy Eucharist Senior's Club and serving on the Parish Centre Board. He also was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Those that met Joseph will not soon forget him. At Joseph's request cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate his life will take place at the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of Holy Eucharist, 505 Watt Street in Winnipeg, on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those that wish, we ask that a donation be made in Joseph's memory to: CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Rm. Our family was deeply saddened to see the loss of our "Uncle Joe", so close to Vivian's passing...we send our sincere sympathy to Mary Anne and family. Both Vivian and Joe were wonderful people to have as Marsden Street neighbors, and will be missed. -from the Yakemow Family - Posted by: Alexandra (Yakemow) Pokrant (Neighbor) on: Jan 02, 2016
