WILLIAM (BILL) HENRY SAUNDERS June 24, 1928 - December 23, 2015 Bill passed away peacefully at 87 years old, with family by his side, at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home on December 23, 2015 He will be sadly missed by Alice and her family, Verna Johnson (Stephen), Nora (Rick), George, Richard, Debra Borges (Alfredo), Curtis (Jessica) of Winnipeg, MB, Mervin (Irene); sister Hazel English, brothers John of Winnipeg, Keith of Chilliwack, BC and Tom Saunders of Stonewall, MB, 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents George and Marie Saunders; ex-wife Violet Saunders; brothers Leonard, James, Bob and Fred; his sister Marie Scheving; and granddaughters Serena and Kelsey Johnson. Dad was a hard worker all his life helping out many of his neighbours when it was needed. He was a very honest, yet a humble man. Dad liked to sing all the old country and western songs and taught himself how to yodel. Family was everything to Dad. He enjoyed his yearly birthday bashes at the farm. A very big "thank you" to Alice from the family for looking after Dad. Also thanks to Dr. Burnet and staff of the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale and doctors and staff of the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Special thank you to Sharon Thorgilsson - you made Dad feel at home in the Personal Care Home; all the nurses and health care aides at the Personal Care Home - you are angels from heaven and Dad loved you all. Thank you to John of Arnason Funeral Home and Pastor Bill Watson for your help and support at this time. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Service will conclude at the hall with lunch to follow.
