LORI MARGARET HARRIS
Born: May 05, 1959
Date of Passing: Dec 21, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORI MARGARET HARRIS May 5, 1959 - December 21, 2015 With the gentle whispers and loving touches of family and friends, Lori closed her beautiful blue eyes and peacefully drifted from this world. She fought her illness with such dignity and faced each challenge with remarkable braveness. We know that she so very much wanted to go home for Christmas, and in some way we know that she is now "home"; she is no longer suffering and is walking alongside the spirits of loved ones who have gone before. Lori was predeceased by her parents Bruce and Mary, grandparents Michael and Louise (Hildebrand) Kaiser, Benjamin and Alma (Smythe) Harris, step-grandmother Eleanor (Scott) Harris, and several aunts and uncles. Keeping Lori's memory alive is her sister Kelly, numerous cousins and a multitude of dear friends. Born in Winnipeg, Lori grew up in North Kildonan. Shy by nature, a friend got her involved with the International Order of Job's Daughters in her early teens, an affiliation Lori was most proud of, which made a positive impact on her confidence and established many life-long friends. A few years after graduating River East Collegiate, Lori began her career with the Worker's Compensation Board of Manitoba, retiring in February, 2014 after 35 years of dedicated service. Lori was deeply committed to her family and friends, and always wanted to know what was going on in their lives. She devoted herself to helping others out in their time of need, and would do so without wanting to bring any attention to herself. Lori epitomized selflessness. The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the remarkable Dr. Patricia Harris and staff at the cancer clinic at Concordia Hospital, to health care aides Mae and Gemma, the amazing team at River Ridge and the nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital; you are all truly angels of mercy. Extra special thanks to Lori's extra special "Beaver Sisters" and close friends, especially Lynn, Joan, Aline and Allison, for their love, support and compassion over the years and throughout her illness. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lori's name to a local animal rescue shelter would be greatly appreciated. Courage it couldn't come at a worse time. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715

Kelly, my thoughts are with you, you have lost a lovely sister and friend too soon. Lori was a dear friend to all that knew her, she was selfless, always interested in what we were doing. Lori didn't miss a beat, she always had great stories to share and she was always spot on with special occasions, sending out Christmas cards and birthday greetings to those she knew, even when she was not well. Lori showed us her strength and bravery to the end, I will miss you, rest now dear friend, Love Kimm - Posted by: Kimm (Freind) on: Jan 04, 2016

Over many years of working together Lori was a great source of help and laughs. She was always there to answer questions and explain how things should work. LorI, Joan A and I had some good times kidding each other via email exchanges. Lori was always the good sport in these exchanges but was also quite capable of delivering the occasional upper cut. Lori was also a fellow Coronation Street fan. I could always count on her to discuss the problems with the different story lines. I will miss not having Lori available to have these conversations in the future. - Posted by: Alex McCuaig (Co-worker/friend) on: Dec 31, 2015
