Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCE CEWICK (nee ARNAUD) 1923 - 2015 On Tuesday, December 29, 2015, France Cewick left to be with her husband Tony and we are sure they are dancing - together again. France was the youngest daughter of Seraphin and Marie-Louise Arnaud and was born December 16, 1923 on the family farm that was located four miles north of St. Claude. At the age of six France lost her mother Marie-Louise, and in 1936 with her father moved to the house in town. France spent all of her youth in St. Claude and after finishing school she worked at the restaurant, for the switchboard and at the St. Claude Creamery. In 1947, at 23 years of age, France married Anthony Cewick and they resided in St. Claude for four years where their daughters Jacqueline and Marilynn were both born. In 1952 they moved to Winnipeg, first to Brooklands, where they lived when their third daughter Elaine was born, and in 1964 to Weston where they resided until 2015. France had many part-time jobs before she went to work full-time for Perths (Whitehall Laundry). Once Tony and France retired they traveled to Europe several times, as well as the British Isles, Hawaii and Australia plus trips to Saskatchewan and Alberta. France was a great cook, a talented seamstress, represented St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church as President of its CWL. Saturday evenings were spent playing cards while listening to the old time music and of course she loved to dance. France will be greatly missed by her daughter Jacqueline (Don) Murphy, children: Stephanie, Bryce (Joyet), great-grandchild Kaiden Murphy; daughter Marilynn (Art) Schultz, children: Amanda (Colin), Heather (Alex); and daughter Elaine, as well as her sisters-in-law - Verna Ball and Minnie Cewick, plus numerous nephews and nieces. France was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Tony, her father and mother, her siblings Germaine, Gerard, Gaston, Antoinette and Gabrielle, their spouses, and many nephews and nieces. The family sincerely thank the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge for their kindness and the care they provided her. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fred Douglas Foundation Inc. or Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba. "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, although he be dead shall live; And every one that liveth, and believeth in me, shall not die for ever, believest thou this!"
