J. AUDREY CROOKS (NEE RUFF) Audrey passed away peacefully in her sleep at Health Sciences Centre on Christmas Eve. Although she had endured a great deal of pain from a number of health issues, her last days were spent surrounded by her loving family and we are grateful that she is now at peace. Audrey is survived by Jim, her devoted husband of 61 years. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Susan (Tim) Poseluzney and Nancy (Richard) Ito; one granddaughter Samantha (Peter) Vlahos and two great-grandchildren Dean and Yanna. She will also be lovingly remembered by many other relatives and close friends in Winnipeg and across the country. Audrey was born in Winnipeg in 1935 and attended Ralph Brown and Isaac Newton schools. She graduated from Tec Voc High School where she met her beloved husband Jim. Audrey was employed in the insurance industry, starting as a secretary, earning her license as a Broker and ultimately becoming a partner in Ranger Insurance. Music was a large part of her life. She was a classically trained pianist and was awarded her Diploma from The London College of Music. She enjoyed playing for her family and friends, as well as the many organizations she belonged to. She was a longtime member of The Daughters of The Nile, Jeptha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a well known and loved Shrine Lady. She was also a dedicated volunteer for numerous other community groups. She was confirmed and married at Christ Lutheran Church and her faith was very important to her. She and Jim have also been members of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. She loved to spend time with her family, especially on birthdays and holidays. She enjoyed entertaining her many friends and relatives and was a gracious hostess both at home and at their cottage on Lake Winnipeg. She was grateful for the many years of wonderful care she received from her longtime physician Dr. Kevin Saunders. Her family also appreciates how well she was treated by everyone at the Health Sciences Centre. Audrey and Jim had recently moved to an Assisted Living residence which gave them both much comfort, although her time there was regrettably too short. According to her wishes, cremation has already taken place. A service of remembrance is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

We were saddened to hear of Audrey’s passing and send our heartfelt condolences to Jim, and to Susan, Nancy and and their families. We will always remember our cousin, Audrey, as a vibrant woman who celebrated life and family. She always made us feel so welcome and comfortable at family gatherings. We remember well the warm and fun times with family at the cottage, and the wonderful spread that Audrey would put on - her home made sausage was the best! Audrey was a pillar of strength and support, and we know how much our Dad and Mom appreciated her care for Auntie Martha and looking after things that they could not do from a distance. We will remember Audrey as a loving and caring woman whose zest for life was infectious and who was a strong thread in the fabric of our family. Her loss will be felt deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you bid her farewell. With love, David, Karen and Susan Adolph - Posted by: David, Karen and Susan Adolph (Cousins) on: Jan 07, 2016
