ROB WILLIAM SCOTT January 24, 1983 - January 4, 2016 Peacefully, on January 4, 2016, Rob William Scott left the arms of his loving wife and was received into the arms of his Redeemer. Rob was a strong man, both physically as evidenced by his many years playing football for and coaching the East Side Eagles, but also spiritually. Few could cross paths with Rob without becoming well aware of his faith. After his cancer diagnosis two years ago, his desire to help others find peace and strength in the living God into whom he had put his trust became of utmost importance. His testimony and peace through the difficult surgeries and treatments has been an inspiration to many and proof of the strength of his own faith. Nothing made Rob happier than knowing the people around him were growing in their walk with Jesus. Not only strong, Rob was also a compassionate person. He was a gentle leader and teacher, guiding others as a mentor. He was fiercely devoted to his family and friends and could always be counted on to take care of the people he loved. Rob is survived by his wife, Karen and son Isaac; his parents, David and Marilyn Scott; sister Katherina (Joel) and nephew Jonathan. Rob was loved and will be missed by many in all areas of his life: family, friends, church family, and colleagues. He will be remembered as a man who loved God, loved his wife and son, was a dominating disc golf competitor, and was always willing to crush anyone who dared to challenge him to a game of "Killer Bunnies". Please join Rob's family and friends for a celebration of his life at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd. on Friday, January 8 at 4:00 p.m., with a light supper to follow. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for Rob's son Isaac. Cheques can be made payable to the Bank of Montreal. Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I only played football on the Eagles with Rob for one season, but he left a big impression on me. One memory that stands out was of an event that happened several times every game. Rob and I were both running backs but I was not as committed to football as Rob, and hadn't memorized all the plays. Rather than ever telling anyone of my incompetence, or letting me fail, whenever the quarterback called a play, Rob would come over and quietly tell me what I had to do for that play. I've never forgot that Christ-like example. And one day I will tell you that in person Brother. May Christ be your strength and peace during this time Scott family. Know that Rob's short life has been profound and his actions and impact will ripple out still. - Posted by: Josh Klassen (football teammate) on: Jan 12, 2016
