Date of Passing: Jan 03, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONA DELORIES MORROW (JONASSON) Leona Delories Morrow (Jonasson) passed away on January 3, 2016 in Gimli Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Her daughter Sherry and son-in-law Boyd Rozecki live to cherish her memory, as well as her two grandsons, Lane and Brandon, who were very important to her. Leona had six brothers, Halli (Leola), Gisli (Diane), Unvald (Erla), Jerry (Elva), Kenneth (Sharon), and many nieces and nephews. Step children: Gerry (Jane), Willie, Ji-ann (Don), Kathie, Chris (Karen), Rick (Karen), and many more beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Donald (Don) Morrow and one brother Keith Jonasson, as well as her father Leo and mother-knitting partner Dyrunn Jonasson (Bjornson). Leona grew up on a family farm in Geysir and attended a one room school and graduated from ACI in Arborg. She moved to Winnipeg and there she met Don at the Brooklands Speedway. They were married for 43 years. Together they loved to travel, camp and fish. Mom planted a beautiful garden and it fed us and may others. They made their home in Brooklands, and she started her successful business with her knitting partner, Amma (Dyrunn). Leona's Sweater and Wool Shop made Fisherman's Socks and Mitts, and many Icelandic Sweaters that have been sent around the world. There wasn't a day that went by without a set of knitting needles in her hands or making up new creations. Leona had the ability to just look at something and make it. She was still sharing her love of knitting right to her last days. We would like to thank the two amazing nurses, Julie and Tannis in the Gimli Cancer Treatment Room, Dr. S.V Patel and Dr. Daeninick. To the entire nursing staff in Gimli Hospital: Thank you for all the love and support you gave my family in the last days. It will never be forgotten. Special hugs to Carol and Wendy for being there. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Gimli Cancer Treatment Room in the Gimli Hospital Box 250 Gimli Manitoba R0C 1B0. In keeping with Leona's wishes, cremation has taken place and Private Interment will be at a later date. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home 204 467 2525 info@mackenziefh.com
