KATHLEEN (KAY) NICKERSON (nee FELEDECHUK) July 7, 1926 - January 6, 2016 Kathleen (Kay) Nickerson (nee Feledechuk) died peacefully at the age of 89 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Kathleen is survived by her son Charles (Chuck) Ward (Delmy); grandchildren Debbie (Harold), Denise (Chris), Richard (Suzette); brother Nick; sister Betty; great-grandchildren Tamarra (Jay), Kira (Brad), Devin and Raina. She was blessed in 2015 with the addition of two great-granddaughters Aftyn and Olivia, and shared in the joy of many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives of the Nobiss family. She will be joining her family in heaven and was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers and sisters, daughter-in-law Gail, daughter Louise, and son-in-law, Teddy. Kathleen was born in the RM of Stuartburn and spent most of her childhood years growing up in the area. She later moved to St. Andrews, Manitoba, where her two children were born. She spent the bulk of her working life with Perth's Dry Cleaners, a job she truly loved and constantly reflected on. In 1979, she unfortunately was in a serious car accident which forced her early retirement. She spent the remainder of her years enjoying life to the fullest. Despite the fact she couldn't taste or smell, her perfection in her Ukrainian cooking never failed. Her love for Chinese food never died, and her annual Christmas tradition was Chinese food delivery right up to the very end! She loved to browse the thrift shops. She had an affinity for golden oldies like black and white movies, music from the Rat Pack era and maybe even a little crush on Dean Martin. When her health began to fail, she began her residence in Holy Family Nursing Home where she was welcomed with open arms. The care and attention she was provided by all of the staff in the St. Francis ward was exemplary. Her sense of humour remained with her to the end and that little shake of her fist was even there the day before she passed. A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathleen's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holy Family Home (visit their website for donation information). The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and staff at Holy Family for their efforts and dedication while she was in their care. Remembrance in life's passing is the truest form of love one can give, For a memory should never die And a love should live forever in the heart of another. - Laura M.
