JAMES ALAN MORISON
Date of Passing: Dec 31, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ALAN (AL) MORISON After a long and difficult struggle with Alzheimer's, Al passed away December 31, 2015 at Concordia Place Nursing Home. Al will be deeply missed by his wife Maureen, son Craig (Leanne), grandson Troy, and son Kent; brothers-in-law, Ernie Regan and Bob Henley, and numerous nieces from the Regan and Henley families. Al had a great sense of humour and always a smile. He was generous with his time, and although, he never put it in many words, was extremely proud of his family. There was no one more proud to be a "Westender" than Al. He graduated from Daniel Mac, and so enjoyed being a letterman and of course the football games! Al was a sportsman and his favourite was golf. He played out of his club, the Southwood, and was a great competitor. Al also curled and golfed with the Heather Seniors. He thoroughly enjoyed his business career with Canadian National Railway, retiring after 38 years of service as Purchases and Materials Prairie Region Manager. Al was a member of Khartum Shrine Drum Corp and was president in 1992. He played the snare drum and so enjoyed the friendships that he made. He volunteered on Fridays for the Shrine Kans for Kids program - the picking up of the cans. This was very special to him. Beaver Ionic Lodge #25 was Al's Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed the fellowship and was a regular attendee. Always a member of John Black Memorial Church, we thank the Pastoral Visiting Committee gals, and our minister Dawn Ballantyne-Dickson, for the comfort you provided for Al and Maureen. Special thanks to the caring staff, 3rd floor at Concordia Place, the nurses, aides and Dr. Martin. The kindness and dignity that you surrounded Al with was very much appreciated. Thank you also to Reverend Gerry Derksen for the support to Al and Maureen in the final moments of Al's life. Cremation has taken place and the service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations to John Black Church or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba would be greatly appreciated.
