PHILIP CHRISTIAN BECKMAN
Born: Jan 08, 1930
Date of Passing: Jan 06, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIP CHRISTIAN BECKMAN January 8, 1930 - January 6, 2016 Philip, our much loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2016 at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. He is deeply missed by Joyce, his wife of 59 years; children Chris (Ramona Mohr), Harland, Thelma (Mike Blahey), Elma (Ulf Herde), and Wendy (Claude Durand); grandchildren Erik and Heidi Herde, Matt and Regan Durand, and Steven Blahey; nephew Bob; niece Linnea; godchild Tara, and extended family. Philip was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Dora, brothers Erling (Mildred), Ted (Verna and lrene), sister Linnea (Jack), and nephew Edward. Philip was born January 8, 1930 in a log house on his father's homestead - living his entire life on the same farm, proudly celebrating its centennial in 2006. He was the backbone of our family and always encouraged his children and grandchildren in their pursuit of education. He had an interest in life and liked to keep life interesting. Whether on his own farm, a neighbour's farm or in town, he liked to see progress. In this regard, he served on a number of local boards. He was grateful to have lived in a caring community with great neighbours who, over the years, gave him many a "helping hand". Though these last few years he had battled with dementia, he never lost his sense of humour or his "people person" personality. We would like to thank St. Boniface and E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospitals and the Manitoba Prostate Centre for their excellent care. A special thank you to our neighbours, family and friends for their caring ways. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Rev. David Fielder officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to STARS Foundation, 155A West Hangar Road, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3Z1 or to a charity of your choice. Keep smiling until we meet again. Dear Joyce and Family. We are so sorry at the passing of Phil. He was a wonderful caring neighbour who was always so willing to help when needed. We feel privileged to have had such a good visit with him at the St. B. in Dec. when his great sense of humour was still evident. Phil will be sadly missed in the community by all who knew him. Please know our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. Sincerely: Fred & Laura - Posted by: Fred & Laura Ross (Friend and neighbour ) on: Jan 13, 2016
