Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID THOMAS GIBSON After a courageous battle, David passed away on January 12, 2016, at the age of 73 with his wife at his side. David will be sadly missed by his wife Sheena, his mother Rebecca, sister-in-law Linda, daughters Gerri Marshall (Jim), Jodi Gibson (Sandy), son David Gibson (Darlene), stepchildren Brad Fletcher (Karen), Scott Fletcher (Renee), Shelley Fletcher; grandchildren: Kellie (Joe), Kristyn (Manny), Jamie (Gillian), Sean, Matthew (Bree), Amanda, Alexis (Dale), Kyla, Brenden, Evann, Sheyanne and Abby; great-grandchildren: Elena, Sophie, Andrew, Riley, Madden, Emmersyn, Nixon, Parker, Hailee, Jackson, Gunner, as well as his nieces and nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his amazing best friend Connie Wilgosh and his best four legged friend, Kenzie. Dave was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 29, 1942, and was predeceased by his father David, his brother Wayne, and in-laws Reginald and Anne Follett. Dave was a man who wore many hats throughout his life. He grew up in East Kildonan/Elmwood as a young boy. Full of ambition, in 1959 he joined the East Kildonan Fire Department, which later amalgamated with the City of Winnipeg. After 32 years with the service, he retired and successfully built Red River Messenger Courier. After a second very successful career, David retired from RRMC in 2008. David coached hockey for many years, and had a passion for race cars, and from 1972-1978 he raced Yamaha sleds. In 2010, David married the love of his life Sheena, and together they enjoyed the last seven years travelling, RVing and spent each year living between East St. Paul and Mesa, Arizona. Right up until the day before he passed, he often could be heard saying he won the lottery' when he married Sheena, and gained her entire family. He loved them all as if they were his own. We would like to thank wonderful nursing staff in 3E at Concordia Hospital, Dr. Darcy Johnson, and Dr. Ted St. Godard from Palliative Care. Your care and compassion for David is much appreciated. Donations can be made in David's memory to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main Street at 1:00 p.m. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 HENDERSON HWY 204-338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

Dave it was such a pleasure to spend time with you and Sheena, not only in Winnipeg and Mesa but gate crashing your honeymoon to Alaska. We have so many fond memories that we will treasure and we only wish you got to make it to Whatsa mata (thats Whangamata) NZ. We are sure you will be propping up the bar in heaven just for the usual night cap. May you rest in peace - Posted by: Gordon & Diana Birrell (Cousins from the best place in the world NZ) on: Jan 17, 2016

Dave was a great guy. We got to know him and Sheena over the past few years, both in Mesa & Winnipeg. Thanks Dave for hosting the first fish fry in Mesa, which became an annual event because you and Sheena so graciously opened your doors to all of us. We are gonna miss you. Brenda & I had the pleasure of visiting with Dave in his last few days and I can assure one and all that he had not lost his sense of humour. Brenda says save a dance for me! Rest in peace. - Posted by: Larry & Brenda Solilak (Friends) on: Jan 16, 2016

Dave was truly one of a kind. We all won the lottery with Dave in our lives. All my friends became his friends once they met him, he was truly a special guy. We will have nothing but great memories both in Mesa and Winnipeg. The happy hours on Ed Rice, and the monthly dinners back in Winnipeg won't be the same but Dave's spirit will always be with us. We will all miss him terribly....except maybe a couple of judges! RIP 605... - Posted by: Bob MacDonald (Family) on: Jan 16, 2016
