She grew up on Lipton Street attending schools Principal Sparling, Sargent Park and graduating from Tec-Voc High School in 1992. It was in grade 10 at Tec-Voc, where Nikki met the love of her life Kerry and together in 1999, they had Zach. To Nikki, her son and her family were her world. Growing up in the Westend, Nikki enjoyed camping with her family at Selkirk, fishing, tobogganing at Garbage Hill, bike riding, swimming, cooking, pitfires in the backyard with her family and friends. Nikki enjoyed the outdoors greatly, purchasing a trailer along with her husband only 3 years ago in Wanipigow, Manitoba, filled her heart with pride and love. In her young adulthood, Nikki worked alongside her family and friends at Journey's End and Perimeter Air. But it was in 2001 when Kerry and Nikki decided to go into business for themselves, and Deeks Doghouse was born. A business that Nikki was very proud of and she quickly drew a gathering of regular customers, many whom she would later call friends. Nikki's love for life, her beautiful smile and her open and warm, caring heart made it easy for anyone to feel welcome around her. The family would like to thank the palliative care staff at St. Boniface Hospital for looking after Nikki during her brief stay there. Her friends at the Brooklands Hotel for all their love and support during this difficult time. And to new friends Mitch and Christa. A celebration of Nikki's life will take place on Saturday, January 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. Family friend Reverend Scott MacAuley to preside over the service. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Department at St. Boniface Hospital. Forever in our hearts. When we heard what happened since she was gone for a while and one day just went back to ask how she was doing and there she was smiles and all. She had such a kind loving heart everyone loved.
