MICHAEL STOYKA It is with deep sadness that we announce that our precious Michael has gone to heaven at the young age of 52 years, after a courageous battle with cancer, on January 16, 2016. Michael will be greatly missed by his wife Kathy (aka Sophie), and his loving children, Brendin and Lindsay. Michael's passing is also greatly mourned by his mother Ruth and his siblings, James (Marcie), Ken (Carol), Barb (Jose) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Mike was a multitalented man. There was nothing that he couldn't fix, nothing he wouldn't attempt to fix and he did so with perfection every time. He always said "if you are going to do something, do it right the first time". He was smart, funny, talented, generous and was always willing to help out friends and family when needed. Michael's greatest joy was his children. He loved them so very much and was incredibly proud of them. He loved spending time with them, teaching them and sharing their love of music together. At Michael's request, no funeral will be held but a reception and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Notification of date, time and venue will be communicated. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Michael's name to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Mike was a great friend...dedicated, funny, and wonderful to work with. I was his dispatcher for 13 years and relied on him everyday to do what was needed. I have many memories, especially of his family coming in to say hello/his son spending a day in the truck. My deepest sympathy to you all. I am deeply saddened by his passing. - Posted by: Wendy Proteau (Former Co worker) on: Mar 28, 2016

  • I am so saddened to learn of Mike's passing. He was a long time friend and one time boyfriend. I can still see him pulling up to my parents house in his big red boat of a car grinning from ear to ear. He was one of the good ones and he shall be missed. - Posted by: Shelley (Everitt) Bergen (Friend) on: Mar 02, 2016

  • Will always remember Mike as one of the hot guys with the bad ass truck in the neighbourhood. Be at peace Mike. Glad we could reconnect on Face book. - Posted by: Maggie Parent (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2016

  • My sincere condolences to the Stoyka family on your loss. I met Michael and Kathy many years ago through Ken. I hope that many fond and wonderful memories of life with Michael will sustain you during these most difficult times. Rest in peace, Michael. - Posted by: Vicki Lazaruk (Realtor) (family aquaintance) on: Jan 23, 2016
