GORDON DONALD MCLEAN May 3, 1946 January 20, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce that Gordon Donald McLean passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Health Sciences Centre with his loving wife of 44 years Marcie by his side. Gordon is also survived by his son Tyler (Julie) and daughter Courtenay (Dean); sister Linda (Barry); mother-in-law Pauline Senko; sisters-in-law Marilyn and Kathy (Kenn); grandchildren Matthieu, Sarah and Marc, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Donald and Eileen. Gordon was born in Winnipeg and grew up on Valour Road. He graduated from Daniel MacIntyre High School and went on to pursue his accounting designations (CMA, CIM, CGA and CPA). He worked in various managerial positions in several Winnipeg businesses. Using his accounting expertise, Gordon volunteered with the Canadian Food Grains Bank which took him to India, Bangladesh and Kenya. Gordon also lent his time and expertise to many community board organizations such as Juvenile Diabetes, Ronald McDonald House and Big Brothers. One of Gordon's many passions was to travel with Marcie to various countries around the world. Recently he was able to travel to South America and Europe with friends in tow. He always was able to turn a small conversation with strangers into a lasting friendship. He always found an excuse to play a round of golf wherever his travels took him. While home in Winnipeg he managed to golf several rounds a week at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club with his buddies. Gordon's love of scotch and wine was no secret. Always wanting to share a dram or glass with friends, family and company. Rarely wanting to try the same brand twice, although he did have his favourites, he was able to experience many vintages in his lifetime and was happy to share his thoughts on them. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the nursing staff and doctors on RR6 at the Health Sciences Centre. Their care and compassion helped our family through a very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gordon's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Very sadden to hear of the passing of mr Mclean. He was a wonderful, loving and caring man. I had the honour of being able to travel through Italy with Courtenay and mr and Mrs Mclean. Shared lots of laughs and made wonderful memories. He will be greatly missed. Thoughts are with the family. Sending love and hugs from "daughter number two" - Posted by: Kristy (Friend of courtenay) on: Feb 13, 2016

Upon return from a short trip I was saddened to hear of Gord's passing. Every meeting, usually at the Westgate Golf Tournament, featured genuine interest in what was going on in my life followed by a glowing report on how Tyler and Courtenay were doing...often with Tyler standing right there! A fine man and a great Dad... - Posted by: Bob Hummelt (Tyler and Courtenay's teacher) on: Feb 08, 2016

Gord and I volunteered together on CFGB projects in Kenya. Our time together was only 2 weeks in length but his warm approach and positive attitude (even when things were not going so well) made a great impression on me; as did his love for his family. We parted as good friends with a firm handshake. I wish to offer my deepest condolences to Marcie and the whole family. - Posted by: Allan Smith (Friend and co-volunteer in Kenya) on: Jan 25, 2016

Remembering Gordon with love today Each of us in our own special way Countless silent thoughts from 1946 as family together brings smiles and memories that will last forever Like 1980 when Don,Jack,Gordon and Bob Cumming built two cottages and guest house at Traverse Bay A lot of hard work but good golf at Pine Falls and family play. And four generations later family still have cottage today. Thank you for caring and sharing your life with us Gordon. 'Til We Meet Again. It was a pleasure to have known Gord, as a colleague in association management and through the CGA Association for several decades. Always a cordial and welcoming greeting when we met, and a common understanding of the many issues that we faced in the profession over the years. Sincere condolences to the family and all those who will miss his presence among us. - Posted by: Len Hampson FCPA, FCGA (Friend and Colleague) on: Jan 23, 2016
