Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • We are sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I got to know him when he just started his business and found him to be an honest forthright individual. All of our family has done business with Rick and we will miss him. Rick will not be forgotten. - Posted by: Larry Erickson (friend) on: Mar 10, 2016

  • RICK ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND HELLO WHEN WE MET. WE WILL MISS YOU RICK. - Posted by: VI OVERSBY AND FAMILY ASHERN (LONG TIME FRIENDS) on: Feb 02, 2016

  • My sincere sympathies to all of Rick's family. I had the pleasure of owning the home he moved, designed & renovated in Ashern. This was originally owned by the Gislassons of Silver Bay, then purchased by Rick's father and ultimately by Rick. It became A.S. Hern B/B and I spent happy years operating it and preparing breakfasts in the "Schwartz Galley". Thank you, Rick! Marliene Lutz - Posted by: Marliene Lutz (Family friend) on: Jan 28, 2016

  • We were so sad to first of all hear of Rick's illness, then of his passing so much sooner than expected. We are all grateful that he attended Mom's (Margaret's) funeral in 2014 and that we had a chance to visit with him later that day in Balmoral. Rick had that mischievous twinkle in his eye that made us laugh and there are lots of memories of time spent at the Silver Bay cottage when we were all little kids. We have been told that Rick recently had a few small "parties" and I guess that was his way of saying good-bye in the most positive way possible. To all of the family, our deepest condolences - you are in our thoughts and hearts. Love, Pam, Noreen and Elaine - Posted by: Pam Meier, Noreen Lerch, Elaine McGowan (Cousins) on: Jan 27, 2016

  • We offer our deepest sympathies to Rick's family and friends. We have known Rick for the last few years and he has certainly touched our lives with his grit and determination and sense of humour.
