COLBY EDWARD BURTON July 14, 1987 - January 25, 2016 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce our bright, shining Son and Brother died suddenly on Monday, January 25, 2016. Colby has left behind a beautiful blended family that will cherish the memories of which he was such an important part. He is survived by his father Ed Burton and Excellent Stepmother Debbie Little; brothers Stephen Burton and Bobby Little; sisters Amanda (Jeff) Yurkiewich and Tanya (David) Little-Derby; nephews Ethan and Jack Little-Derby as well as Liam Little. There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins with a special acknowledgement to cousins Mikel and Marc Rondeau who were like brothers to Colby. As Well, to Mel Teichroeb who was a mentor and father to Colby when it mattered most. All of whom, reside here in Winnipeg. Colby was predeceased by his natural mother Monica Augustine, whom he loved dearly. Colby grew up in the Lorette, Manitoba area and graduated from Collège Lorette Collegiate where he was a hit with so many people whose lives he touched. Lasting friendships and memories were made with many through his endearing character, his love of dirt biking and for sure, his passion for guitar, varied music genres and music composition. He carried these qualities and interests with him to Winnipeg as an adult. Colby spent many years as a proud and proficient roofer/shingler in the roofing industry. Colby's struggles have ended. He is finally at peace. We will miss his smile, sense of humour, musical and guitar experimentations and remember the good fight he fought. ...but I digress. Colby wants you to know his work here is done. He received a call...a sort of offer you can't refuse. It's for an excellent gig from which he will not be returning. This gig comes with one very big perk...a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Rest in Peace Son. Goodbye Colby. We love you and will miss you dearly. Dad, Debbie, Stephen, Amanda, Tanya and Bobby. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8th at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Thomson Funeral Home in care of arrangements. In Colby's memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. www.heartandstroke.mb.ca THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com

  • Im so very sorry - Posted by: ash (friend) on: Jan 19, 2018

  • It is very sad when someone so young and vibrant leaves us, with so many things undone. I lost my husband this past year and it leaves a person wondering - what if: What if I had done this different or been a better wife or what if a particular chain of events had never happened - would things have turned out differently. At times like this we often are left with so much regret; that somehow, if we had been better ourselves, that we could have prevented this loss. However, Colby was both loved and supported by many. Also, he was such a good son to his mother during her illness. Condolences to all his family and friends. - Posted by: Debbie Morrow (Friend of Catherine, Don and boys; Mel Teichroeb and the late Monica Augustine ) on: Feb 08, 2016

  • My sincere condolences to Colby's family and friends. I am sure Monica was there with open arms to greet Colby. May he R.I.P. now. - Posted by: Kim Teichroeb (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2016

  • I only knew you a short time but you made an impression that will last a lifetime... Rest easy Colby... Until we meet again... - Posted by: Kaila (Friend) on: Feb 03, 2016

  • Thanks for the 1year of friendship Colby. It is with profound sadness that you leave us so early into life. Thank you for making me laugh and feel cared about in my greatest time of need. I'll never forget the help you handed me in getting through my own battles. Until we meet again on the other side. So sad to see you go but know that we are always and will always be here thinking about you until our own voyages ends and we can finally meet up again. Come to an end. Until then, thanks for the great times and help. Au revoir Colby. - Posted by: Dave (Friend) on: Feb 03, 2016

  • So very sorry for your loss Burton Family. May he rest in peace and be forever in the joy of family. - Posted by: Anne Augustine (Great Aunt) on: Jan 31, 2016

  • My most sincere wishes of condolence to Ed and to Stephen in the loss of a son and a brother. The obituary words are a fine description and tribute to Colby's life. Colby's mother and I kept in contact over the years and so I heard first hand many details of his life story as he was growing up from a young boy to adulthood. He and his mother shared a very special relationship. Monica was always eager to share stories and details about both Colby and Stephen. I am very grateful that I had the privilege of being in touch in this way over the years. Because of this, I share in the feeling of loss that the entire family is feeling at this time. My deepest sympathy to all. Shirley Augustine { Monica's aunt} - Posted by: Shirley Augustine (Aunt to Colby's mother ,the late Monica Augustine Burton) on: Jan 30, 2016
