CHARLIE (CARL) ZIELKE It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their dad, grandpa and great-grandpa (Papa). After a lengthy illness, Charlie Zielke, 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Maples Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. Charlie was predeceased by his parents: Karl Zielke and Seraphnia Yike (Geik), his brothers: Fred, Louis, Alec, Martin and Emil, and his sisters: Pauline, Helen, Margaret, Wanda, Molly and Teeny, and his granddaughter, Rienna. Charlie leaves behind his daughter, Sheree (David); his sons, Roger and Dean (Susan); his grandchildren: Ryan (Tammy), Brekke (Jeremiah), Shandal and Shayla; and 10 great-grandchildren. Charlie grew up in Green Bay, Manitoba. After marrying, he worked as an inspector for Rayovac in Winnipeg. In 1961, along with his family, he moved to St. Ouens and bought Daytonia Beach (now Kenbro Park). His favorite sports were hunting, fishing, and bird-watching. Charlie also worked for Eastern Manitoba Tourism. After retiring, he spent many winters in B.C. and finally moved there in his later years. He came back to Winnipeg in fall of 2015. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
