KATHLEEN JANE SHESTERNIAK
Born: Mar 14, 1933
Date of Passing: Feb 02, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN JANE SHESTERNIAK (nee SWITZER) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) on February 2, 2016, with her loving family by her side. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Bohdan of almost 60 years; her beloved children, Paul (Lori), Lynne (Mike), Angela (Chris); her adored grandchildren, Robyn, Kimberly, Cole, Matthew, Tyson and Lisa; and great-grandchild Cohen. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Lorraine White and Edith (Art) Kidner and families; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her father Sidney Switzer in 1967; her mother Katie Switzer in 2009; infant sister Irene; her brother Arthur Switzer and her brother-in-law Donald White; her aunts, Mary Petro and Annie Mabb, and uncles John and Harry Nowosad. Kay was born in Winnipeg on March 14, 1933, and had enjoyed much of her younger years at the family homestead in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. Here she found a love of gardening and nature, and she also enjoyed berry picking, fishing, and spending time at the lake with her family. She had a talent for knitting and needlepoint, always the perfectionist as her crafts were meticulous. Kay was a very talented cook and we enjoyed many family dinners together, our favourites being her holiday meals. One of her most treasured interests was her love of music, which provided her much comfort in her final days. But her most endearing talent was that of a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, her love and affection was evident in her smile. She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren's accomplishments, and would spoil them whenever she had the chance. Funeral Services will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearer's attending will be Mike Myrowich, Chris Bateman, Cole Myrowich, Matthew Myrowich, Geoff Stark and Donny Nowosad. We would like to thank Dr. Ahmet Leylek and the staff of CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. F. Sikora, and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Concordia Hospital, for their special care of our dear Kathleen. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kay's honour can be made to a charity of your choice. We love you so much Kay (Mom), we will miss you forever and you will always live in our hearts and our cherished memories, Until we meet again. I will always remember cousin Kay as a smiling, patient, and loving person who treated all with kindness. Kay and her husband were very close to my parents and visited alot on our farm. I was privledged to see alot of them in my early years of growing up in Fisher Branch. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family as I know she will be greatly missed by all. Sincerely, Cathy Nowosad - Posted by: Cathy Nowosad (cousin) on: Feb 07, 2016
