ANNE BARANYK (nee MARISCHUK) November 5, 1923 - January 13, 2016 It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, baba, great-baba, sister and aunty. Mom passed in her sleep early Wednesday morning, January 13, 2016 at the age of 92 at Kildonan Personal Care Home. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Walter, of 49 years, February 17, 1992; her parents Effie and Joe Marischuk; in-laws Jessie and John Baranyk; stepbrother Bill Sianchuk; brothers, Frank, John, Leonard, Pete, Roger and Alex; sisters Mary and Jennie (infancy). Mom is survived by her son Leonard (Eleane), Lenny (Mary), Lenny and Nicholas, Jason (Natasha), Jeff (Lynley), step-grandson Jesse (Jamie); son Nelson (Shirley), Michael (Heather), Kasia and Brady, Shane (friend Shelly), Carter and Billie; daughter Jan (Harve) Rochelle, Ryan (friend Kelly), Melissa (Chris) Rioux, Sydney and Hunter; sister Elsie (Wilf Lederhaus, and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was born to Effie and Joe Marischuk in Horod, where she went to school and later in 1943, she married the love of her life Walter, and lived with his mother on the farm for three years. They then obtained a farm of their own and went through some hard times, but the determination to succeed paid off eventually. In 1957, they made a move to Strathclair, where life started to improve for the better, and in 1977, moved to Shoal Lake and continued to still farm. Here Anne worked in the hotel as a cook for three years and obtained her driver's license at age 63, which proved her own independence and enjoyed all the activities she could go to on her own. She also worked at the Senior Citizen Home as a dietary aide until she retired. Mom was a hardworking, kind, generous and caring woman. Mom loved cooking and baking, especially perogies and cabbage rolls. Busy pickling, sewing, crafts, BINGO, card playing, Ukrainian music, gardening and watching her afternoon soaps were her favourite. She was known for her special care packages for the children and grandchildren when leaving for home. She belonged to the legion and enjoyed time spent with her friends. Mom belonged to the St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Church and then to the Holy Eucharist Parish in Winnipeg until her health failed. We would like to thank the Kildonan Personal Care Home for the kind and compassionate care that was provided in the nine years Mom spent there, especially in her final days. Also thank you to our relatives and friends for their visits and gifts that made her days special. Funeral services will be held at the St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shoal Lake, MB on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Shoal Lake Cemetery. A reception will follow at the community centre. Special thanks to Fr. Mykhaylo Khomikskyy for officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Lenny, Jeff, Michael and Shane Baranyk, Ryan Rochelle and Melissa Rioux. Crossbearer, Carter Baranyk. The family kindly declines flowers and asks instead that a donation be made to the Alzheimer Society, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Mom you will be in our hearts forever. Give Dad a huge hug for us MOM!! VICHNAYA PAM'YAT Rae's Funeral Service in care of arrangements.
