CONRAD SCHWARTZ February 14, 1920 - February 8, 2016 In sorrow, yet celebrating a long life well lived, our family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather (Papa), great-grandfather, uncle, and friend on February 8, 2016 at the grand age of 95 years (six days shy of 96). Conrad leaves to mourn his passing his son Daniel; daughter Laura (Jeff); granddaughter Tara (Rob), great-grandson Ari; granddaughter Jaime (Jazer); and numerous other relatives. Conrad was predeceased by his beloved wife Ellen, his parents, all his siblings and their spouses. He was born on the family farm in Saskatchewan in 1920. The family returned to Winnipeg where he grew up. At an early age he left school to help support the family. As a young man, during the Second World War, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, serving on the HMCS New Glasgow and HMCS Chambly. Upon return he worked with his father and brothers forming K. Schwartz and Sons Construction Company. Upon retirement Conrad and Ellen spent many happy winters in Phoenix, Arizona. Graveside service will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Barbara Roberts officiating. Reception to follow. Friends and family may meet at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, at 1:45 p.m. Our family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the staff of Misericordia Health Centre, Cornish 2, for the wonderful care of our father. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or other charities of choice. As Papa would say, "Adios Amigos!" Condolences and best wishes to Danny. Pastor Kunkel is presently living at Misericordia Place, 44 Furby, not in good health. He was wanting to express his sympathies to Dan more than a month ago but did not have an address. So we hope you will get this. - Posted by: Pastor Johann Kunkel (family friend) on: Apr 08, 2016

It is so sad but happy to recall all of the wonderful special attention Uncle Coonie and Auntie Ellen gave to me throughout my childhood and into my adult life. They were so special and so much fun. I will never forget the wonderful times we had in their homes as well as at Gull Lake. Those times with family will be cherished as long as I live. My heartfelt condolences go out to Danny and Laurie for their tremendous loss. Uncle Coonie was definitely a very special and colorful character with a grin that I will always remember with fondness. - Posted by: Karen (Kiki) Sanden Panzer (Niece) on: Feb 12, 2016
