ED HYKAWY May 6, 1946 - February 10, 2016 Peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, with his family by his side, Ed went to be with the Lord. Ed was predeceased by his mom and dad, Bill and Martha; sister and brother-in-law Gloria and Lou, and nephew Brett. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 46 years, Bev; sons Michael and Darren, and precious granddaughter Sierra; sisters Phyllis (Ron), Joyce, Fran, and Jerone (Bob), brothers-in-law Basil, Gerry (Donna), Brian (Lorraine) and Wayne (Al); mother-in-law Carrie Prychun, and constant companion Dixie. Ed and Bev were married on January 31, 1970. In 1982 their first son Michael was born, in 1991 Darren came along and their family was complete, Ed was so proud to be a dad. Many good years were shared watching his two boys grow into the men they are today. In March 2012 his granddaughter Sierra was born, he loved her dearly. We will always remember her cuddled beside grandpa as he read to her. Many great times were had at their cottage at Betula Lake and then Bird River. Ed loved to sit on the dock and watch the sunsets. Ed's passion was old cars. He was well known for years as the guy with the "little red bucket". Three years ago Ed and Bev bought their classic 64 Cadillac, traveling to car shows and meeting at "Tim's" on Wednesday night with their car friends. Pallbearers will be Michael and Darren, nephews Randy Yaworski, Dale and Cole Hunt and Steven Tell. Thank you to the Heart Failure Clinic, especially Rose, Dr. Badenhorst, Dr. Zoppa and the wonderful nurses and aides on Medicine North at the Selkirk General Hospital. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 15, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Your struggles are over, Till we meet again.
