GRACE MAE ROGERS Grace Rogers passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Thursday, February 11, 2016. We, her family have hearts full of sorrow, but also full of thankfulness for the time she was with us. Grace was predeceased by Harvey in 1991, her loving husband of over 36 years. She leaves behind their five children, Chris Getty (Les), Kathy Rogers, Shelley Rogers, David Rogers (Caroline) and Jennifer Adams (Steven). Grace will be remembered by her grandchildren, Miranda (Rick), Bryan, Tanner, Jordyn, Logan, Nicholas, Olivia, Samantha, Jolene and Carson; as well as great-grandchildren, Logan, Keenan, Faith, Ethan, Olive and Titus. She also leaves behind her brothers, Cliff, Bill, Terry and Stanley. She was predeceased by her sisters, Lynn and Gene, and brother Gord. Grace was born on April 28, 1934 in Ottawa, Ontario where she met the love of her life, Harvey. They started their family in Ottawa, moving to Winnipeg in 1962 where they raised their five children. Grace was the true stay-at-home mom; sewing dresses for her girls, spending hours in the kitchen making us the goodies and delicacies we loved. For many years she served as a volunteer at Seven Oaks Hospital, where she delighted in helping people. Once the children had left the nest, Grace and Harvey enjoyed many travels together. They would pack up the car and head south to Florida, taking in many sites and festivals along the way. Grace enjoyed various crafts, walking with her friends, and could read a dozen books in a good week. Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, February 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. Reception to follow at Glen Eden. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice. Mom and Dad are together again Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery 204-338-7111

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Our deepest condolences on your loss. We know exactly how you are feeling having just recently lost our father and Jordyn and Nick's grandfather in January. Remember at this time "family" is what keeps us going and coping through these trying times. - Posted by: Warren & Alice Griffin (Uncle & Aunt to Jordyn and Nicholas) on: Feb 22, 2016

  • I met Grace at River Ridge while visiting friends of mine. Always was very pleasant to talk with. Found her to a real character. And at lunch and dinner there was always a glass of wine infront of her. There were a few times she'd drop a few pills and so my friend would get up and get them for her. At one point my friend would say "should you be drinking wine if you are taking pills and Grace would just look up at my friend and say "and why not"? We all had a good laugh! Grace was just so cute!! Grace came to the "In Clineation Sweet Dreams of Patsy Cline" show at Club Regent just about two weeks ago and I commented on how nice she looked with her fur/leather jacket all dolled up! I was shocked to hear of her passing and would have liked to attend her funeral, but didn't hear about it until just today. One day late!! I'm really upset and will miss her smile and friendly face even though I only knew her for a short while. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your beloved mother. May the support of family and friends help you through this most difficult time. Cherish the good memories. With blessings, Inge - Posted by: Inge (Friend) on: Feb 21, 2016

  • I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Grace's passing last week. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I have wonderful memories of times with her going back to being her flower girl at her wedding to Harvey when I was five, watching her dance at other family weddings (oh how she loved to dance), remembering her always laughing and full of fun, a very good friend to my Mom, Gladys, especially when our family lived for a while in Winnipeg, all her trips to Vegas and Hawaii with Mom and Dad and also of our lovely conversation on the phone when she turned 80. Grace, I hope you are at peace and dancing with Harvey right now in celebration of your wonderful life. With my condolences to all the family, Love Helen - Posted by: Helen Maglis (Niece) on: Feb 19, 2016

  • I have known Grace since I was a child, growing up in the Margaret Park area. My parents( Bob and Pat) where very close friends with the Rogers family. I loved going to their home and playing with Grace's children. Grace was a lot of fun, always smiling and laughing. I remember having so much fun when we went to their home on New Years Eve! Grace also made my wedding cake. I will miss her, I send my light and love to all her children. Robin-Ann - Posted by: Robin-Ann Shuster(Duff) (Family friend) on: Feb 17, 2016
