Date of Passing: Feb 13, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS (TOM) CHASTON It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Chaston on February 13, 2016 at the age 89. He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor, brother-in-law John (Shirley), nephews Robert (Joan) and Rick, great-nephew Matthew and great-niece Natalie. Tom was predeceased by his parents Michael and Carrie, sisters Mary, Carrie and Elsie, brother, Victor. Tom was born December 23, 1926 in Rackham, Manitoba and attended Jackfish Lake and Sandy Lake High School. After farming with his father, he decided to go to Winnipeg where he worked for the T. Eaton Company and the Winnipeg Post Office. He married Eleanor, moved to Lockport and worked at the Selkirk Post Office until his retirement. He loved his home and yard, always feeding the birds and rabbits. He enjoyed entertaining friends and neighbours, playing games, and was an avid Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bomber fan. Tom loved to travel to parts of Canada, and the U.S.A. including Hawaii. His dream was to build a big compost area which he accomplished before he took sick. Thank you to Selkirk Hospital staff and The Tudor House Personal Care Home for their compassionate care. A big thank you to our neighbours and friends for being there at the most trying times. Funeral Liturgy will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6 or a charity of one's choice. I met Thomas when he became Ill I was one of the girls who took care of him while he was at selkirk hospital. Every time I came on shift first thing I would do was say hi to him and as soon as he would see me he would laugh and say Ohh your working today good maybe we can go for a walk after! When he moved over to the nursing home I was so upset but I was able to go visit him a few times. I will miss your little chuckle Thomas!! - Posted by: melissa m (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2016
