GLENN DAVID DOBBIE
Date of Passing: Feb 16, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLENN DAVID DOBBIE Glenn David Dobbie died February 16, 2016, at Health Sciences Centre after a valiant effort against the return of esophageal cancer. He was 75. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife, Dorothy (Tummon) and daughters, Lori and Shauna. Predeceased by his parents, Alec and Flora (Crawford); he is survived by his brother Jim and sister-in-law Linda; his sons-in-law, Joe Borges and David Johnson and grandchildren, Holly and Graeme Burke and Julia and Claire Dobbie. In his 75 years he managed to see much of the world, sailing through the Far East, the South Pacific and the Caribbean during three years in the navy, then later travelling with Dorothy during her days as a Member of Parliament and business leader. He was a business manager for the Labourers' International Union for about two decades before retiring and joining the family publishing business. He participated fully in child care back in the days when people thought a father alone with his children was "babysitting". Animals and children were drawn to his quiet, gentle nature. Although a little introverted, he enjoyed socializing and was an excellent judge of character, probably because he listened more than he talked. But when he did get talking, especially about his escapades as a boy, he had audiences gasping with laughter. He had a tremendous sense of humour. The family thank the nurses, support staff and doctors at HSC for their expertise and compassion. Dear Dorothy, Ellen and I having been married for 48 years we can appreciate what it means and what is involved in keeping a relationship loving and growing. We can only imaging how difficult it must be loosing a partner and facing the world without the support, love and guidance from a best fiend and partner. We hope that you will reach out to your family and friends at this time when you most needed to share the grief and asking for their support to keep going and keep doing good work for the benefit of all. Dorothy, I didn't know Glenn but felt like I had. During your many years on CJOB , you always talked so fondly of Glenn...how much he helped you with your yard and plants. You two had done so much work together, there will be a huge void in your life. Thankfully, you have your daughters and their families for support. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. May Glenn rest in peace. - Posted by: Delores Lackey (Avid listener of Dorothy on the Gardener show) on: Feb 20, 2016

Dorothy and family. Sad to here of Glenn's passing. He was probably the first person outside of family that I knew. He and my brother Dale provided me with some of my earliest direction. I'm sure you have many wonderful memories to help you carry on. Thinking of you. Cliff Grevstad - Posted by: Clifton Grevstad (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2016

Dorothy I just heard about Glenn and am very sorry! I have some wonderful memories of him, especially when we worked out of your house. The first real conversation I ever had with him was about Bucklys cough syrup I will never forget.
