Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN MATHEWS (MATWICHUK) December 20, 1925 - February 12, 2016 John Mathews, aged 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 12, 2016. He will be sadly missed by his son Jeff and grandson Johnny, wife Helen, as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be lovingly remembered for his warm heart, great sense of humour and his love of people, animals, sports and music. John was born on December 20, 1925 in St. Martin, MB. John was predeceased by his father Nicholas; mother Ksenia; sisters, Marie, Olga, Zena, Sonia, Alice, Lassie; brothers, Al, Jerry and Paul. John lived a full life that took him to Miami Beach, FL, where he was a lifeguard, to a hotel builder/owner in Richer, MB. John was a businessman in every way. After his retirement of his many, many, endeavours, his favourite pastime was to watch his beloved grandson Johnny participate in sports and grow into the special person he is today. As per John's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. Special thanks to the caring staff of the Luther Home. We are so sorry for the loss of your dad and grandpa. He sure was a hockey grandpa and we are too familiar with that kind of loss. It was always so nice to see him in the stands cheering for Johnny and his teammates. Our sincere sympathy to you all.
