Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MAY HAZLITT (nee AMELL) 1922 - 2016 Peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2016, with her sons, David and Garth by her sides, Rose May Hazlitt passed away at the age of 93 at the Poseidon Care Centre. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dave Hazlitt in 1995. Left to cherish her memory are her five sons, Doug (Brenda), David (Karen, deceased), Wesley (Gail), Gary (Rozanne) and Garth (Shauna). Rose is also survived by her sister-in- law, Kathleen Smart, daughters-in-law, Carol Hazlitt and Barb Hazlitt. Also left are her grandchildren, Douglas (Bevona), Andrea (Tony), Laura (Herve), Kristine (David) Wood, Christopher (Nishadi), Scott (Magda), Ryan (Steph), Eilishrose and David, as well as her great-grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Joan Montgomery. Rose was born in Winnipeg, May 7, 1922. After marrying Dave, they settled in Wildwood Park where they raised their family. Rose enjoyed her summers at Falcon Lake and her winters curling at the Wildewood Club. Rose also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with her late husband Dave. Rose loved her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority sisters where she had been a member since 1950 right up until last year when her chapter was dissolved. She was also a long time Weight Watcher as well as an employee of Weight Watchers well into her 80s. Rose spent many years working in Student Records at the University of Manitoba. Rose achieved rank of Sargeant in the reserves. She also loved playing cards, bingo, and Bocci. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11:00 am. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the care givers of Victoria General Hospital (2014), Seven Oaks General Hospital (2015) and Poseidon Care Centre (2015-2016). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose's memory to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, Unit 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3Y 1G4 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9. YOU HAVE HAD AND ENJOYED A LONG AND WONDERFUL TIME WITH GREAT FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDSHIPS,ONE OF WHICH WAS WITH MY DEAR SISTER DOREEN, WHO OFTEN MENTIONED YOU AS A FELLOW LONG-TERM MEMBER WITH BETA SIGMA PHI.
