Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADELIN AUGUST RYCKENBOER 1930 - 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Adelin (Al) Ryckenboer on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the age of 86. Al passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Adelin will be remembered by Rita (née Couture), his wife of 60 years. He will be missed by his children: Roger (Lorna Lawson), Melissa and Kelly, and his great-granddaughter Aliyanna Ryckenboer-Hopfner from Saskatoon, Lynn (Ronn Laurier), Joel (Amanda) and Kyle (Joelle) and Carol (Paul Barsalou), Lydia, Avery and Delaney. He is also survived by his sister Yvette (Firmin Cocquyt), nephew Mark and niece Josiane (Dominique Dubbaut), Jano from Belgium, as well as numerous cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Adelin was predeceased by his parents, brother Maurits, and his grandson Daniel Ryckenboer in 2007. Al was born, February 21, 1930, to Michael and Livina (née Longueville) Ryckenboer in Maldegem, Belgium and immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 in 1948. In July 1952 he started work for Martin Paper where he worked for 40 years as the company evolved into Bathurst, McMillan Bloedel, Smurfit. For many years, starting in 1950, Al played the trombone in the La Verendrye Band and then the Belgian Club Band. He enjoyed summer vacations camping with his family at the Whiteshell Provincial Park, later Lee River Falls and various KOAs in the United States and back home to Belgium. We would like to extend our appreciation for the care he received while a resident at the Vista Park Lodge. In keeping with Al's wishes, cremation has already taken place and arrangements are in the care of Desjardins Funeral Home. Please join us in celebrating his life Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. This obituary may also be viewed at the Desjardins website.
