DOROTHY ELLEN MARTIN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ellen Martin, of Golden West Lodge, on March 3, 2016, with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on March 5, 1913 in Balmoral, MB, to James and Josaphine Jeffery. She was predeceased by her husband John, in 1996; sisters, Isabel Jeffery, Gwen Jeffery, Betty Maxwell (Noel, Jean Bickell (Warren) and nephew Jeff Maxwell. Dorothy will be fondly remembered and missed by her son Jim (Beverly), grandson Shane (Amanda), great-grandson Ayden, sister Kathleen Read (Bud) of Edmonton; numerous nieces and nephews, and her grand-dog Patches. She was raised on the family farm in the Rockwood Municipality. She left the farm in 1937 to attend Normal School. On completion of Normal School, she taught in Ashern, Glenella, Good Hope (Balmoral), East Saint Paul and finishing her teaching career at Brooklands School (Winnipeg). She enjoyed many years of retirement; with her and John travelling to many parts of the world. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and her special dog Sheba. Dorothy was a member of Friendship Chapter #67 Order of the Eastern Star, where she made many long and special friendships. Flowers are gratefully declined. A donation may be made in Dorothy's name to a charity of one's choice. Our family would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the management and fourth floor staff of Golden West Lodge for the kind and compassionate care my mother received while in your care.
