SUSAN GODARD (nee MAGUIRE) 1926 - 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Susan Godard, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Susan was born on October 21, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland. Susan was a war bride, marrying her husband, Yvon Euclide Godard in 1945, a Canadian soldier on duty in Europe. At the age of 19 she relocated with her husband to Winnipeg where she has resided ever since. Susan and Euclid were married for 70 years. Susan worked for over forty years at St. Boniface Hospital as an EKG Technician and Paging Operator. Susan passed away peacefully with her children at her bedside at St. Boniface Hospital on March 3, 2016. Susan was predeceased by her brother John Maguire; sisters, Rebecca McFadden and Frances Maguire; daughter Rhona Lenhof and grandson Jared Lenhof. Susan is survived by her husband Euclide Godard; and her children, son Barry Godard (Eileen), son Marty Godard (Jennifer), son Paul Godard (Tara) and daughter Theresa Barker (Mark). Susan had eleven grandchildren who she adored, Dara, Kyna, Jared, Kieran (Lenhof), Damien, Janine, Krista, Sean, Darcie (Godard) Scott, (Fisher) and Lauren (Barker). She also had several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in Scotland (McFadden family) and nephews, John, Steven and Kevin Maguire in Winnipeg. Susan was a woman of strong conviction and strong moral character. She was resilient, intelligent and beautiful. Not afraid to speak her mind, she taught her children and grandchildren to use their voice and make their mark in the world. May the road rise to meet you and may the wind be at your back. We raise a glass to Susan, wife, mother and grandmother. We will forever love you and think about you. May you rest in Peace. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Sorry to hear of Susan's passing. We were next door neighbors on Echo Bay in St. Laurent. We enjoyed her witty character with a glass of wine. Also enjoyed baking treats. What a great lady. So sorry we never kept in touch after they moved to Winnipeg. She will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Bernice Johnson-Tkatch (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2016

  • Aunty Susan was my Godmother. From a small girl I knew that I had a Special Godmother. Our shopping trips to Eaton's on Saturdays and lunching at the Grillroom, ordering off the Gingerbread Man Menu; throwing coins in the paddle wheel river, brings a warm smile to me. Aunty Susan always spoiled me a lot. As an adult, we worked side by side at the Swithboard @ St Boniface Hospital (a job she got for me) and we had so much fun joking around and getting into mischief. She always had the most descriptive and interesting stories to share that captured my attention. Over the years I only got to see her in the summer when visiting Winnipeg and our visits were fun and funny still. She was so kind, smart, witty and fun - that's how I will always remember my Dear Aunty Susan. A Best Friend to my Parents, Lorraine & Freddy and our entire Family. Until we meet again, Louise xxx - Posted by: Louise Desender (Niece ) on: Mar 18, 2016

  • I remember her very fondly along with Euclid. They were the first people that we met on Bentwood and I used to visit her when she moved to another house within the area. My son took his first steps in her house actually. The last time I saw her was in St.Boniface Hospital a long time ago. I know that she will be missed by her family and friends. My condolences to Euclid and the family. - Posted by: Joanne Roussin (neighbor from Bentwood Bay) on: Mar 18, 2016

  • Dear Aunty, I loved our talks especially hearing stories of the past with you, uncle and mom and dad. You sense of humour was infectious and I always left our get togethers smiling ,laughing and feeling blessed for the special person that you are and will always be to me. I will miss you forever and love you so much. Say hi to mom and dad and hope you are all around the turntable enjoying some great music and reminiscing as we did. - Posted by: Michele (Niece) on: Mar 17, 2016

  • I will miss you terribly, mom, we were co-workers, family, and best of friends. All of the knitting you and I and auntie Francis shared will remain a legacy to the family, especially the Irish fisherman knits. You taught us all to be brave and tackle life as it was dealt to us, and to always love and respect family.. St Patrick's Day won't. Be the same without you. Rest now mom, and be at peace, you certainly deserve it. - Posted by: Sandi Godard () on: Mar 12, 2016
