DOROTHY LAVINIA ELLIS (nee MASON) In the early hours of March 14, 2016, Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Concordia Hospital. She was 102 years old. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Fred, and son Fred. Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law Sharon, grandchildren Tracy (Doug), Terri (Leo) and Derek (Sandy), great-grandchildren Chad and Cherish, Shara-Lynne and Brock, Roman and Lexi, and great-great-granddaughter Myla. She was born on November 30, 1913, in Leicester, England, being the youngest daughter of Arthur and Clara. Dorothy was an active person, being involved in the Salvation Army and going on many day trips with her friends. She also enjoyed going downtown to The Bay on a weekly basis. Meeting new people was an essential part of her life and always said this was important to her. The daily phone call from Lorraine meant a lot to her. She was a positive thinking person, always having a story to tell. Dorothy was a very determined and independent lady, never asking for assistance. Her keen mind and organization were amazing. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
