Date of Passing: Mar 10, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD GEORGE GREWINSKI On March 10, 2016, after a brief struggle with cancer, Edward George Grewinski, of Lac du Bonnet, passed away at the Pinawa Hospital. Ed was predeceased by his parents, John and Clara, and by his wife, Linda. Ed is survived by his brother John and family; his five children, Tracy (Alan), Noel (Bert), Sandy (Lyman), Evan (Lisa) and Kara; and five grandsons, Braden, Calan, Niklas, Stefan and Colin. Ed was born in Lac du Bonnet in 1940, leaving home as a teenager to work in the bush and truck in Northern Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan. He was most proud of his farm in Riverland and felt fortunate to have lived and raised his family there. He was a kind, generous and hardworking man, and was happy when being productive. In recent years, he enjoyed his work at the shop with his brother John and the guys. Ed was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge, Pine Falls chapter, and still felt connected to the values and work of the lodge, even when he could no longer be active in it. Ed will be remembered for his sense of humour, fierce independence and trademark blue work shirt - the uniform varied for only special occasions. A longtime collector, he had many eclectic collections at the farm and in his apartment and always had just the piece needed for whatever needed fixing. He loved to grow even when he couldn't farm, planting trees at the shop, and expressed his interest in aviation with RC planes and copters, for both the kids and himself. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruneau and the Pinawa Hospital staff for the patient and compassionate care over the last months. Cremation has taken place. A memorial is planned for the spring.
