VICTORIA PIDHORNEY On March 15, 2016, Victoria Pidhorney passed away at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 87. Born on December 11, 1928, Victoria was one of 12 children; two survive her: brother Metropolitan John Stinka, and her sister Katie Stinka. Victoria had seven children: Arlene Spilchuk, Shirley Swan, Marie Pidhorney, Lin Edwards, Barry Pitney, Laurie Meagher and Sue Pidhorney; who brought much loved in-laws into her life: Asko Natti, Jack Swan, Jim Edwards, Laurie Dragan, and Terry Meagher, and blessed her with seven grandchildren: Brendan, Erin (David), Stephen, Jennifer (Brandon), Kelly, Dillon and Holly; and four great-grandchildren Sarah Allyson, Tristian, Tori and Kianna. Born in Buchanan, Saskatchewan, Vicky enjoyed the weekend dances and family gatherings either at her parents' farm or the homes of extended family. She fondly remembered them all with colourful tales of both joys and sorrow. Vicky married Metro Pidhorney in 1949. They moved from Saskatchewan to Winnipeg in 1960. Staying home until the youngest was in school, Vicky then undertook various food industry jobs, the last and most memorable being 20 years as the famous cheese biscuit baker' at the Victoria Hospital. Everything Mom did she did with pride, whether outfitting numerous bridal parties, making wedding cakes or cooking a family dinner. She loved her card games, puzzles and Scrabble with her Ralston Room friends. A cremation has taken place and a family memorial service will be held at a later late. The family would like to thank the staff on 4 South at the Victoria Hospital, Richmond Gardens and all of Mom's home care providers. Special thanks to Jim for his thoughtful and patient care during Mom's declining health. Thank you to Kelly who took care of her wishes as well as her needs. Mom did not stand on ceremony so if you skip the donation and buy yourself something nice' to remember her by that would do as well!
