Thank you to all who made comments about my Dad on the Free Press Passages site. You have no idea what it means to read your thoughts and compliments to the man who was most influential in my life and was so special to his family. We miss him dearly but as my mother says... "he is in a better place". Lorna - Posted by: Lorna Sanderson (daughter) on: Apr 30, 2016

My thanks to Erinne for letting us know about Bob’s passing. I agree with the other tributes that he was a wonderful man. I particularly want to acknowledge his and Dorothy’s kindness to my mother during the time she lived in the Courts of St James after dad died. She absolutely loved their visits, including having them wheel her across the lane to that Winnipeg institution, Salisbury House. - Posted by: Ken Shipley (Cousin) on: Apr 30, 2016

My thanks to niece Erinne for letting us know about this. Carol and I are sad to know that Bob is gone. We agree with all the tributes -- he was a wonderful man. We also offer our condolences to Dorothy and the kids and grandkids. I particularly remember how kind Bob and Dorothy were to my mother after dad died and she moved into the Courts of St James. She loved their visits and, if I remember correctly, their meals together at that Winnipeg institution, Salisbury House, across the back lane from the Courts. - Posted by: Ken Shipley (Cousin) on: Apr 29, 2016

I just found out about Bob's passing today. My grandmother Edna, Bob's aunt, was close with him and Dorothy, and I was very fortunate to have gotten to know him on several visits to Winnipeg over the years. I will remember him with great admiration, respect, fondness and love. My thoughts are with all the family. - Posted by: Erinne White (grand-niece) on: Apr 27, 2016

I was fortunate to work with Bob when he was the Coordinator of Student Services in Fort Garry. I was a guidance counselor in one of the schools. He was one of the finest individuals I worked with in my 40 plus years in the education system. Bob knew how to work with people. I think he represents a life well lived! I'm sure the family will have fond memories, I certainly do. - Posted by: Jim Wood (Colleague) on: Mar 22, 2016

I knew and worked with Mr. Scarth many years ago when I was a teacher in the Fort Garry School Division. It was at a time when children with special needs were first being integrated into regular classrooms. He was kind, wise and I had great respect for him. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: M. My deepest sympathy to Dorothy and all family members on the loss of your dear Bob. I met Bob when I was Music Supervisor for Fort Garry School Division and always enjoyed my conversations with him. He was so well respected by everyone in his field and in the division at large. May I offer my prayers and deepest sympathy to all. May the many cherished memories of past happier days help sustain you in the future. - Posted by: Morna-June Morrow (Fort Garry School Division colleague) on: Mar 21, 2016

I was fortunate to have had Mr. Scarth as a teacher while I attended Prince Edward Jr. High, & I will never forget him. He was not only a wonderful teacher, but a kind & caring person. Then when our family moved to Greene Ave., we found that the Scarths lived across the lane from us, on Linden Ave. I moved from Wpg. in the 60's, but looked forward to getting to chat with him on annual visits to my family home on Greene. He was one of a kind, & I offer sincere condolences to his family & friends, on his passing. - Posted by: Adele Clarke (Former student) on: Mar 21, 2016

As a child growing up on Linden Ave, across the street from the Scarth family, I have many childhood memories. Mr Scarth was, to a young child, a very tall man. I quickly over came my concerns as he had a twinkle in his eye whenever he smiled and a laugh I loved to hear. Whether playing childhood games or baking cookies, I think I spent a fair amount of time at the Scarth house with neighbourhood friends Lorna and Isla. Mr and Mrs Scarth were both very much part of those formative years. My sincere condolences in the loss of your Dad and Husband. I am so happy he was able to spend his time at home. May your many memories help you through your grief. - Posted by: Karen (Gowriluk) Zurba (Neighbour) on: Mar 21, 2016
