Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • During the 50's Dan and i worked as telegraph operators on the Kenora division of the cpr....I resigned from the railway in 1960 so we were not in contact with each other for several years....however when the railway museum began in KENORA...Dan was a big part of its operation and invited me to assist with the telegraph on special occasions.i.e. railway days etc., He also invited me to help out in Winnipeg on demonstration occasions..We continued to maintain e/mail contact nd i truly enjoyed his reflections on the past and items of railway memorabilia...He loved his job and he loved people...He will be missed. - Posted by: john bowiec (co/worker and friend) on: Apr 21, 2016

  • Our condolences to Dan's family. His sudden passing was a shock to us all. His energy and zest for life in all the interests he had were unmatched. He had sent us his busy itinerary leading up to our 2016 Halifax Convention where we planned to present him with a Certificate commemorating 50 years membership in our Canadian Association of Train Dispatchers and Rail Traffic Controllers (CATD/RTC). He will still be with us in conversation and memory as we honour his passing at this convention. - Posted by: Leland Harms (President CATD/RTC) on: Mar 25, 2016

  • We are saddened by Dan's passing. I will miss our telephone conversations - all about telegraphy and railroading, of course. It was always a pleasure to share with him. With sympathy to you all. • Enjoyed talking with him about trains and cottaging as a member of the Winnipeg Rail Museum. - Posted by: Doug Moberg () on: Mar 24, 2016

  • Mr. and Mrs. Kollesavich were always big supporters of the Elmwood Giants baseball club. Mr. Kollesavich enjoyed having the players at his home where for hours we would talk about baseball over a cold beer. He always made the players feel welcomed to a point that the Kollesavich's home was like the Giants clubhouse. On any given Saturday after practice, there could be anywhere from 2 to 20 players in the back yard listening to Mr. Kollesavich talk about baseball, small towns and of course CPR. I would like to thank Mr.Kollesavich for his kindness and he will be remember always. - Posted by: Ken Kulcsycki (Friend) on: Mar 23, 2016

  • We only had the pleasure of meeting your Dad/husband on Mar 12/16 at my Father's 80th birthday party. We were so happy that he could attend. Our Dad always spoke very fondly of Dan, and their long telephone conversations. We are so very sorry for your loss. He seemed to be such a lovely man....we are very happy he and our Dad got to have one more visit. Take care....Graham Stewart's family - Posted by: Sandy Glover (friend) on: Mar 22, 2016
