ELLA JOHANNA MATTHES (nee SMITH) Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Tuxedo Villa on Monday, February 15, 2016 at the age of 96. Ella was the dearly loved wife of the late Roy (1994) and much loved mother of Susan, Bob (Cheryll), Sharon, Deborah (David). She was a loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 22. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Shirley (2008) and sons-in-law Edward Cherwinski (2010) and Delmar Mann (2015). Ella dedicated her life to raising her five children. She was an avid gardener and took pride in her prized tomato and pepper plants. She loved to quilt and knit and was always ready to do a jigsaw puzzle. Ella was a devout Lutheran. The family would like to thank the special caregivers at Tuxedo Villa Station 3 for their loving care over the past few years. Donations can be made to Saint James Lutheran Church mission fund or to the Lutheran Hour. Ella has been laid to rest at Chapel Lawn.
