Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS LLOYD CAMPBELL June 24, 1936 - March 26, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the age of 79. He passed away while surrounded by his loving family at the Health Sciences Centre, after a courageous battle with vascular complications. His immediate family left behind are his wife Beverley - married to for 57 years, son Rodney (Lynn), special sister Linda Zak, and lastly his canine fitness companion Pedro. Also surviving him are sisters, Irene (Ingrid) and Marlaine; brothers, Ed (Marilyn), Dennis (Laura), Wayne (Donna), and their families; in addition to numerous in-laws, family and friends. Those that knew "Mr. Lou", knew that he loved to do anything he could with his hands. He started in construction in 1962, and still continued working part-time right until the summer of 2014, when his body, not mind, made the decision that he couldn't climb a ladder any longer. He could literally fix anything with the right tool, which he had in his van or somewhere in his workshop, if not he'd go buy it. There weren't too many buildings in Winnipeg he hadn't swung a hammer in, he left his mark in everything from heritage sites to apartment complexes. Aside from collecting tools, he also enjoyed reading, especially western novels and National Geographic, the outdoors, but above all else, being with his family. Let's not forget his deep admiration for his lifeblood, coffee and his penchant for sneaking an A&W burger before or after a home cooked meal! A family friend recently made a comment that summed him up perfectly: "boy, they sure don't make em' like that anymore", we agree. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre SICU for their excellent work and compassion in his final days. It took a series of four big surgeries within two days to take him from us, he simply wouldn't go without a fight. He went peacefully, in his final hours he let family know he was not in pain and was ready for his next journey, or job-site. Donations can be expressed by "paying it forward", by helping family or a friend in a time of need, as that is exactly what he would have done. It was his wish that there will be no service; a cremation has taken place. Messages and condolences can be left online at condolences@nbardal.mb.ca.
