NORMA KATHLEEN DIXON
Date of Passing: Apr 02, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMA KATHLEEN DIXON It is with heavy hearts that we are advising of the passing of our dear mother, Norma Dixon (aka Gran) on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the age of 89 years. Although Norma was an only child, she was proud to have a large family of four children, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Gran was a real trooper and looked after herself in her beloved house until the end, where she died peacefully in her sleep. Like Sinatra, she always did things "her way". Gran's house on the Red River gave her immense pleasure and she loved watching the critters with her binoculars. She was very pleased last week when two geese came to stay in her garden for a couple of days. Besides her house, Gran's other favourite places in the world were her cottage at Grand Beach and Florida. Her husband, and our dad, Fred (Bumpa) Dixon predeceased her in 2008, so they're probably having happy hour near the ocean. So Mum, say hi to Dad for us and "smell those shrimp they're beginning to boil." In compliance with Gran's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, go to a bar or buy a bottle of wine and raise a glass to Gran. She would like that. For some reason, you have always stuck with me! Today, I was thinking about you and decided to look your name up and I am saddened to hear of your passing! The first day I entered your home from complete care your face was priceless! You said, "oh I wasn't expecting a young girl like yourself, but come on in!" It wasn't long after that, that cleaning and helping you while you broke your leg, that our friendship grew! My job turned into hanging out with you in the kitchen while you smoked like a chimney haha, had yourself a brew!! I loved your sense of humour, you were one great woman and your family were always welcoming! I know for a fact you are happy to be with your husband now who you spoke so fond of! You missed him dearly! May you rest in peace Norma ❤️ - Posted by: Heather Mackenzie (Home care turned into friends! ) on: Jan 04, 2019

Hey Norma, you are a great mom and friend. Loved to see you fish off of dock at Jessica lake and screwdrivers for breakfast. You taught me to like wild mushrooms in your infamous garlic sauce. Spend many days and nights at your home with you, FBD, and my best bud FRD. Say hi to Fred and Jamie. She loved you as much as I do. You always said Freddie should have married Jamie. But I guess he didn't move quick enough. We all loved you so much and will forever be in my memories. I hope they have wine and beer in Heaven. Enjoy and Rest in Peace. I would not be the woman I am today had it not been for you. I can't believe you are gone...just seems like yesterday you were pulling us in a wagon down the boardwalk at GrandBeach. I will miss you soo much but you are in a better place...no longer suffering in pain. I love you to the moon and back. - Posted by: Tamara Schneiderat (Granddaughter) on: Apr 09, 2016

Our families were very close in the early years and I have many many fond childhood memories. Lots of beach days, meals, overnight stays with Debi and shared pets (Misty, Lady, Fang). "Auntie" Norma had a generous spirit and always made me feel very much at home. Randy and I send our deepest condolences to the family.......and yes, we will have a toast in tribute to both Norma and Fred. I imagine they are having cocktails together with my mom and dad. - Posted by: Cindy Henry (Family friend) on: Apr 09, 2016

I have known Mrs.Dixon all my life, she babysat me long ago. I was friends with Fred Jr, as adults we drifted apart. But I remember she was kind, caring and loved her family! The last time I saw her was at my Dads funeral, I gave her a big hug and remembered her kindness! She will be missed ! - Posted by: Ken Kowaluk (Former neighbor, paperboy, ) on: Apr 07, 2016
