EUGENIE MARIE STIMPSON (nee CINQ-MARS) 1925 - 2016 It is with inexpressible sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenie Marie Stimpson (nee Cinq-Mars) - beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to many - on Saturday, April 2, at Riverview Health Centre. Eugenie is survived by husband and constant companion Douglas, daughters Nancy, Edna, Leslie (Peter) Gailis and Peggy, and sons Ian (Kathy), Joel (Bev) and Michael, as well as four grandsons and three granddaughters. Also left to grieve are brother Archie Cinq-Mars of Lac Du Bonnet, sister Annette Champagne of Ottawa, other family members, and friends. She was predeceased by brothers Emile, George, Romeo, Henri, Leo and Joseph, and sisters Jeanne and Denise. The second daughter and third child of Urbain and Emma Cinq-Mars, Eugenie was born January 11, 1925, in St-Pierre-Jolys. She moved to Winnipeg in 1942 and met Doug at a dance in April 1949. They married at St. Mary's Cathedral on November 23, 1949, and raised their seven children in a house on Humboldt Avenue in St. Vital. Eugenie's passions included knitting and baking, self-taught talents she put to great use for her family. She made sweaters, scarves, mittens and other warm clothing for family members and charities. Her scrumptious desserts were the most anticipated part of every holiday dinner she and Doug hosted. A lifelong Roman Catholic, Eugenie was a founding Christ the King parishioner and taught her children the value of Christian kindness. Thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Garcia and the wonderful staff at Riverview's Palliative Care unit, where Eugenie spent her final days. Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 7, at Christ the King Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choosing.
